Swisscom to sell 45.5% stake in UTA Telekom

Swisscom announced it is going to sell its 45.5% stake in Austrian-based UTA Telekom to the joint owner Telekom Austria for an undisclosed sum, according to a report by AFX News. Under the terms of the deal, Swisscom will set the loan claims in respect of UTA aside for the amount of 210 million sfr (EUR 142.56 mln), with a value adjustment being booked in the fiscal year 2001. The disposal is a result of Swisscom's international strategy to focus on mobile service providing and data business.
